SimNASA set Mercury 7 launch date and releases launch calendar to the public

Officials at SimNASA released the first of series of long anticipated launch schedules today.

Covering a brief period of 37 days, the launch calendar includes several interesting and firsts for the space agency. Most notably is the selection of the final Mercury Project launch date for February 16th, 2002. The launch corresponds to the 40th anniversary of John Glenn’s historical launch on February 20th, 1962.

SimNASA Astronaut, Colonel Brian Lang has been selected as the primary astronaut with Major General Brad Hodges selected as the backup astronaut. Col. Lang is currently earmarked for at three to seven orbits. Launch is tentatively schedule for 1300 hrs UT fro launch complex 14 at Cape Canaveral Air Station, Florida.

In addition, several unmanned probes and other events of interests to the agency are listed. The first of which will happen February 9, 2002. "This year SimNASA has a very aggressive and full schedule." Officials told reports. "We have over 35 separate launch events schedule on our long range calendar and that is just the first half of the year!"

Trott named Manager of Launch Control Teams

Officials at SimNASA announced today the appointment of Chris Trott as the Manager for Launch Control Teams (LCT) for the organization. As part of his responsibilities, Trott will oversee the development, training, and coordination of the Launch Control Teams in support of SimNASA space programs and working with outside agencies to coordinate activities in relation with those programs.
Trott has previously served within SimNASA as its Public Affairs Officers and most recently has worked as the CEO of Green Mountain Airlines.
SimNASA officials, as of yet, have not released any further details as to when launch operations will begin within the organizations, however unofficial sources have indicated that a formal announcement will be made within weeks.
